RSMC Negotiations – 3rd Reopener – Meeting of the National Executive Board

    July 16, 2009  -  09:00

    RSMC / Bulletin

    RSMC Negotiations Bulletin No. 2

Between May 2 and June 27, 2009, more than 150 meetings involving hundreds of rural and suburban mail carriers took place to discuss improvements to the RSMC collective agreement. We discussed wages, job security, use of seniority, householders, time values, technological changes, and more. That’s democracy in action.

    Board Meeting

Another step is about to start. The National Executive Board is meeting this week to discuss reports produced following these meetings. A program of demands will be adopted and presented at local membership meetings between August 29 and September 27.

    Let’s be ready!

We need to continue to build on the fruitful debates held during the preparatory meetings for the 3rd reopener. Many solutions were proposed to address the problems that members experience and solidarity was always evident. We have to carry that solidarity and unity forward throughout the summer to be able to exercise our collective strength come the fall. LET’S BE READY!

    Ergonomic Assistants Discussions Continue

As announced in the June 11th bulletin, discussions have begun with Canada Post to resolve outstanding issues around the use of ergonomic assistants. These discussions will continue until July 30th. The procedure that has been established to deal with requests for an ergonomic assistant will remain in effect until then. More information to come on this.

    The Struggle Continues.

    In solidarity,

    Denis Lemelin
    National President
