Dear Prime Minister Harper:

I am writing to you on behalf of the 54,000 members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers to urge you to immediately reinstate $7.2 million in funding to the First Nations University.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers believes that full restoration of this funding is in the best interests of the students and faculty at the First Nations University.  It is also in the best interests of the Aboriginal communities.

A number of organizations including the Canadian Association of University Teachers, the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations, and the Assembly of First Nations support the restoration of this funding.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers is aware that the problems that led to the termination of the funding have been resolved.

The current and future students at the First Nations University deserve to have this funding fully restored.
