Rural Mail Delivery and Safety

Rural mail delivery and safety

CUPW has about 6000 members who work for Canada Post delivering mail in rural and suburban areas. At the moment, Rural and Suburban Mail Carriers (RSMCs) cannot safely deliver mail to some rural mailboxes. To address this problem, Canada Post has moved delivery from these boxes to community boxes or post offices, often kilometres away. Most rural residents have had home delivery for decades. A number of them cannot easily make the trip to the new location. Many people do not understand why their delivery has been moved and are understandably frustrated.

You can find out more about this issue and what the union is doing to preserve delivery and ensure the safety of its members by reading Frequently Asked Questions, or the other documents and links listed on this page.
