Errors on Seniority Lists

Collective Agreement / Bulletin

2005-2008/353

The new seniority dates assigned to employees based on their continuous service in the bargaining unit officially came into effect on December 7, 2007.

Between December 10 and 12, 2007, the employer posted the new seniority lists in the workplace. Since then, we’ve been advised of errors on these lists.

In general, the errors have to do with seniority granted for periods when employees worked in another bargaining unit and lost seniority or should not have accumulated seniority under the provisions of the current and past collective agreements.

CORRECTION

To have the new seniority lists corrected, you must contact your union representative to point out any error. He or she will refer the issue to the local officers. The request for correction must be made in writing as soon as possible and must include all supporting documents.

Requests will then be forwarded by the local union to the regional working committee, which will review the request and make the correction, if warranted. Then, the revised seniority dates will be submitted to the steering committee in Ottawa to ensure the employer corrects the data in the SAP system.

In solidarity,

Philippe Arbour
National Grievance Officer
