Adjustment procedure

There is a procedure that must be followed for adjusting pay and daily workloads, as per clause 11.02 and Appendix “A” of the collective agreement. This procedure applies to increases or decreases of less than 5% in the number of points of call (POCs) or kilometres. Paragraph 2 of Appendix “A” states, more specifically, that these adjustments must be made once per calendar year. These adjustments will be made shortly.

Take a close look at your data

That is why we’re asking you to take a look at the information regarding your individual routes and have it corrected as necessary. In particular, closely review the number of POCs and kilometres that aren’t included in your route summary and for which you aren’t currently being paid.

Route updates

Canada Post has told the Union that when a route’s POCs or kilometres increase or decrease by less than 5%, the routes will be updated once per calendar year, i.e. on December 1st.

Pay adjustments for all RSMC routes in Canada and Quebec will be reflected on the pay that RSMCs will be receiving on December 24, 2009.

Pay adjustments

In December 2009, RSMCs who are affected by this new procedure will be receiving a CPC form entitled “Route Salary Adjustment (RSA).” Please check the form to see whether the changes made to the number of points of call, kilometres, daily hours and your pay reflect your route’s current situation.

What if there are discrepancies?

If you notice any discrepancies between the actual numbers for your route and the data indicated on the RSA form, you should ask your union representative’s help to have the situation rectified. If, following this, you’re still dissatisfied with Canada Post’s decision or lack of decision on the necessary adjustments, ask your local to file a grievance within 25 working days, as per clause 9.06 of the collective agreement.

In solidarity,

Philippe Arbour
National Grievance Officer
