CUPW to conduct non-violent civil disobedience to obtain post office plans

 

What: Civil disobedience action (possible arrests) and colourful support demonstration, music, puppets, speeches.


When: Monday, June 19, 2006. Gathering at 10:00 a.m., document search and civil disobedience starts at noon.


Where: Canada Post Corporation, 2701 Riverside Drive, Ottawa Ontario (corner of Heron Road). Main action site: South Traffic Circle entrance


Who: Deborah Bourque, CUPW National President and others

CUPW and supporters trained in non-violent civil disobedience will try to enter and search Canada Post headquarters for planning documents relating to the corporation’s plans for our public post office. The action is part of CUPW's Operation Transparency campaign and follows an ultimatum delivered to Canada Post last March to release the strategic planning documents or face a search.
