CUPW has about 6000 members who work for Canada Post delivering mail in rural and suburban areas. At the
moment, Rural and Suburban Mail Carriers (RSMCs) cannot safely deliver mail to some rural mailboxes.
To address this problem, Canada Post has moved delivery from these boxes to community boxes or post offices,
often kilometres away. Most rural residents have had home delivery for decades. A number of them cannot
easily make the trip to the new location. Many people do not understand why their delivery has been moved and
are understandably frustrated.
