From January 20 to 22, a City of Montreal commission held public meetings on how Canada Post's decision to end door-to-door mail delivery will affect Montrealers. Brother Denis Lemelin, National President, presented a brief on behalf of CUPW that was very well received by the Commission. Brother Alain Duguay, President of the Montreal Local, also presented a brief from the local perspective. Organizations other than CUPW, including the NDP, RAPLIQ, FADOQ, and TANDEM, to name only a few, also condemned Canada Post's five-point plan in their briefs. The recommendations of the Montreal Commission are expected to be released by February 17th.
