On September 21, 2014, the St-John’s Local adopted a resolution at its general membership meeting to increase union dues by $3 per month for one year. This will generate an additional $12,000 in support of their local Save Canada Post campaign. The resolution reads as follows:
Whereas on December 11, 2013 the Corporation released its 5-Point Plan to destroy Canada Post;
Whereas the Union, locally, regionally and nationally, has been campaigning to stop this Plan with some successes;
Whereas the PC government supports this Plan without having the facts, and knowing the impact on us the workers, and the people who depend on the service daily;
Whereas to have a strong Local Fight Back Campaign, additional resources are needed now;
Be It Resolved that our dues are increased $3.00 per month for all members in our Local for a 12-month period to assist this Fight Back Campaign.
