Dear Minister Foote:

Re: Canadian Postal Service Charter

I am writing to inquire about the status of the Canadian Postal Service Charter. It appears that the Charter has been archived on the government’s website.

As you know, the Canadian Postal Service Charter spells out Canada Post’s universal service obligation, which includes five day a week delivery and a moratorium on post office closures in rural and small towns.

I would like to know why the Charter has been archived. Would you be able to reassure me that the Charter will remain in effect until the government’s upcoming review of Canada Post has had a chance to consult with Canadians about their expectations and needs in relation to universal service?

Thank you in advance for your response to this very important matter.

Yours truly,

Mike Palecek
