Dear Mr. Yangi,
On behalf of the 50,000 members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers I wish to extend our support, compassion and recognition of the tragic loss of members for the Muslim community and the citizens of Quebec City at the Centre Culturel Islamique de Québec.
We stand with you in the face of such madness and violence against the peaceful people of our society. We want all the families to know we share this loss with them. We also hope for a speedy recovery of the injured.
Further, we condemn in the strongest possible terms those that would promote Islamophobia. At this time of shock we will continue our efforts to ensure that there is a place in our society for every citizen to live in peace and respect. We will not tolerate murderous acts directed against anyone. We will continue to challenge hate and violence.
We know this must be a difficult time for everyone and want to ensure that you do not share it alone. We are here and we are with you. Together we will challenge hate and violence with dignity, hope and love.
With solidarity and respect,
