This course provides training for health and safety representatives in Canada Post workplaces with fewer than 20 workers – where no joint health and safety committee is required. It is built around CUPW’s Health & Safety Tool Kit, a binder of useful information that serves as the participant’s binder for this course.
Participants become familiar with monthly inspections and accident/incident investigations under the Canada Labour Code. They also explore the different routes for solving health and safety problems, and raising issues with management.
This course is for health and safety representatives in Canada Post workplaces with fewer than 20 workers. It may also be of interest to other union representatives who wish to increase their knowledge of health and safety.
Please note that the region (or the local) selects the courses that are offered. Not all courses are offered in a given year. In some cases, a course may not be available because it is not up to date or because it is being translated.
Specialized courses, such as the training of facilitators and of worker advocates, are offered on an as needed basis during each mandate. Typically, participants from two or more regions attend these national-level courses.
Members interested in union education should contact their region.
