On behalf of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, I would like to extend our best wishes of solidarity for your proposed October 26 general strike against inequality and anti-worker programs.  It is clear that as wealth trickles up to the rich, our societies, and indeed the capitalist system, has become more volatile and unpredictable. In fact, if allowed to continue such as system will not only impoverish and divide us all but destroy the planet. Youth are condemned to an unstable future and a precarious present. Let us hope this inspiring action is but a step in achieving global justice in every neighborhood, community and workplace.

When you fight, you fight not only against austerity, xenophobia and racism, but for workers everywhere, for a better future. You fight for us. We look for a struggle to inspire us to claim our power in the face of capitalist tyranny. Our world and economy, constructed as a gambling casino for rich investors, uses our bodies, lives and communities as their playthings. A mighty storm is coming and every step of resistance brings us closer to that day.

As the ancient Chinese philosopher, Sun Tzu taught us it is more effective to create and fight on our own playing field rather than lose by soft appeals to power on theirs.

Please extend to the workers in your organizations our best wishes and gratitude for their sacrifice and struggle.

In Solidarity,

Mike Palecek
National President
