Statement

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers grieves that the employer is in violation of Articles 3, 24 and other applicable portions of the Rural and Suburban Mail Carriers Collective Agreement and the Canada Labour Code in that it has, by letter dated July 13, 2004, confirmed that representatives of the Canadian Postmasters and Assistants Association (CPAA) would be the employee Health and Safety representatives at the post office level.

Corrective Steps Requested

That the employer recognize the Canadian Union of Postal Workers as the bargaining agent for all employees covered by the RSMC Collective Agreement, that local Joint Health and Safety Committees be authorized to deal with health and safety concerns raised by RSMC members, that local Joint Health and Safety Committees be authorized to oversee the maintenance of healthy and safe workplaces in those installations where RSMC employees work and that other appropriate remedies be granted.

The Union also reserves the right to amend this grievance.
