On or about February 27, 2008, the Union was informed that the employer is implementing a policy/directive entitled “Managing Medical Certificates” by Manulife Financial. This policy/directive violates the provisions of the collective agreement, more specifically Article 10.
Corrective Steps Requested
The Union requests a statement to the effect that the employer is violating the collective agreement and shirking its responsibilities under the agreement. CUPW requests that the employer be instructed to rescind its policy/directive on access to files.
The Union requests that compensation be paid to any employee who has been affected as a result of this violation of the collective agreement and/or of the relevant legislation.
CUPW reserves the right to request any additional corrective action.
