The Canada Post Corporation has informed us that it has renewed its agreement with Logistik, a company located in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu in Quebec, for a four-year period, starting on July 1st, 2016. Under this new agreement, the National Joint Uniform Committee (NJUC) will finally be able to start developing a new high-visibility uniform for delivery workers to replace the high-visibility vest.
Since the unfortunate workplace accident that occurred in December 2014 in Edmonton, the Corporation introduced a requirement nationally for delivery employees working where there is vehicular traffic to wear a high-visibility vest. This temporary requirement was put in place in answer to the Assurance of Voluntary Compliance required by Labour Canada. The Committee had later worked on developing a high-visibility vest, but the Corporation put the project on hold after issuing the request for proposals to find a supplier.
Members of both the urban and RSMC units should rest assured that they will be informed as soon as the Committee is able to announce the trial for these new uniforms.
